NOFX played Sunday's Van's Warped Tour in Oceanport, NJ. But, as usual, wasted the 40-minute set chopping each other and goofing off.
Awesome to catch some Trenton love at Sunday's Warped Tour in Oceanport. Here we have Robbinsville's East Coast Addiction getting down on the Jersey Stage, while most were getting ready to see NOFX on the Main Stage. The guys threw down an energetic set, got the crowd of about 30 to toss a beach ball around, as they slid through a collection of synth-shocked pop punk. It's the second year the guys played Warped. Burning Jersey was there, too. But they played at noon, and traffic getting in was hell.
One shining moment at a fairly regular Warped Tour was British punk rockers TAT, and it's slinky lead singer, Tatiana DeMaria. The band's got this classic, Joan Jett/Runaways feel, which is refreshing considering all the emo-slop and synth-cartooning that infected this season's tour. It got really raunchy when DeMaria noted that she just got done her woman cycle and then decided to burn it out with a can of Monster Energy Drink she poured down the front of her really tight jeans. You go girl.
About the only thing good about the Millionaires was their overtly sexual stage show. But that's about it. Totally sucky hip-hop, party thrash-trash - and the little girls watching totally ate it up. Girls, go check out Peaches' new album. That record's the bomb!
Spotted "Wonder Years" starlet Winnie Cooper at Sunday's Warped Tour at the Monmouth Race Track in Oceanport. Gotcha! That's actually Meg Frampton of the indie pop sister act Meg & Dia. Pretty close to the real thing, don't you think?

Last calls fail to stop these disenchanted party poppers – flexing their hopelessly-nerdy alt-rock clout at McGuinn’s Place (1781 Brunswick Pike, Lawrence) at 9 tomorrow night - from double-fisting till dawn. A warm-up show for the ex-Philo, Frantic and Dead Flowers players’ mini tour to Brooklyn, Baltimore, South Carolina and, of all places, the Princeton Rec Center in Princeton, W. Vir., the concert also includes sets from 12 Miles Offshore and High Fire Skyline. Tickets cost $5. 21-plus.
Rhode Island space-metal mindbenders guide a voyage of low-fi - and less technical - translations of Isis, Pink Floyd and Opeth into The All Call Inn (214 Weber Ave., Ewing) at 6 tomorrow night. These Branches, which buzz jam-rock instrumentals with a White Stripes feel, headline The All Call Inn (214 Weber Ave., Ewing) at 6 tomorrow night. Jesuscentric, Ghosting, The Shade Planet Bandits and Dirty Josh play, too. Tickets cost $7. All-ages.
Philly flyboys hit the All Call Inn (214 Weber Avenue, Ewing) at 9 tomorrow night with Local Demise and a jaded suburbanite point of view that showcases an astute punk spirit and appreciation for Bad Religion, The Descendants and Black Flag. Karma Bat and The Last Barbarians are also on the bill. Tickets cost $5. 21-plus.
Trenton guitar guru, getting down and dirty at The Record Collector (358 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown) at 7:30 tomorrow night, politics with ’dem “Jersey Blues,” with every-man prose showcasing the state’s biggest problems: amusement park deaths, toxic waste and sensational tabloid headlines. The Massachusetts scream-dealing scar-makers lead the mosh-pit express at Maennerchor Field (3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, Pa.) at 5:30 tomorrow with Metal Bladers Evergreen Terrance, Cruel Hand, Unholy, Mother of Mercy, Nailed Right In and Spectral Empire. Beast-core behemoths Earth-rattling metal tricks remain consistently brutal. And the monster voice will be in full effect at noon Saturday at Championships Sports Bar and Grill (931 Chambers St., Trenton). Tough-core tyrant’s hate-breeding metallic crunch left a sickening trail of bruised ears when blazing through the 2005 Sounds of the Underground tour. Now the Long Islanders are here in Trenton - at 8 p.m. Saturday in the basement of Joe’s Mill Hill Saloon (300 S. Broad St.) – to prove they still got the faster-than-most speed-core muscle to crush skulls and melt faces. The head-banging super show also includes sets from Everything’s Ruined, Dead & Buried and Isyou. Tickets cost $10. 21-plus.

Seventy-one year old Oklahoma country “Queen of Rock ’N’ Roll,” who hung out with Elvis Presley in rockabilly’s early incarnations in the mid-’50s, still has some cowgirl kiddy-up left in her songbird voice. As the story goes, Jackson – headlining a pair of shows at The Record Collector (358 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown) at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday – was hitting the same concert halls as The King when it was suggested to switch out of country music tradition and into the radio mainstream. It landed her Top 15 hit, “I Gotta Know,” and a 2009 Rock ’N’ Roll Hall of Fame induction. Jet Weston and His Atomic Ranch Hands, open. Tickets cost $30 in advance, $35 at the door. All-ages.
The Princeton chapter’s rock ’n’ roll summer campers flashes its power stances and flexes its classic rock knowledge of Alice Cooper, John Lennon and The Who, at Six Flag’s Great Adventure’s (1 Six Flags Blvd., Jackson) Live & Local stage at 1 p.m. Saturday. On the Beat has also learned that a Beastie Boys cover of “Fight For Your Right To Party” is also on the set list, along with covers by alt-rock superstars Weezer and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Prog-punk tricksters get high on At The Drive In fumes, dazed by Led Zeppelin at The All Call Inn (214 Weber Ave., Ewing) at 5 p.m. Sunday. Hamilton’s The Cretins, who’ve grown into their barking lyrics and grandiose metal-guitar faze (think Circa Survive or Atreyu), are also on the bill. So are Gene Smilek and Dave Servoldio. The “Summerland” actor and R&B star, headlining Six Flag’s Great Adventure’s (1 Six Flags Blvd., Jackson) Northern Star Arena at 7 p.m. Monday, looked totally cheesed when caught groping – that’s a butt grab – a tickled-pink Paris Hilton at February’s Grammy’s. McCartney was nominated for Record of the Year. Paris was to sip from Lil Wayne’s “goblet.” Free with admission to the park. All-ages.

Rap front man Travis McCoy - leading his alt-hop crew at Six Flag’s Great Adventure’s (1 Six Flags Blvd., Jackson) at 7 p.m. Tuesday - kissed it girl Katy Perry and liked it, toured with the pop hottie on last summer’s Warped Tour, hit the beach over Christmas, then called it quits in January. And in a strange turn of events, McCoy professed love for his laptop on his blog, saying “it’s loyal, listens and never lets me down.” Ouch! Well, America can breathe easier, the couple are back together, taking their clothes “off, to have a good time, oh no.” Boys Like Girls, The Veronicas, The Academy Is … and Never Shout Never round out the bill. Who says you can’t always get what you want? Just because The Rolling Stones haven’t toured in nearly a decade, doesn’t mean there’s no one out there to get your rocks off. Ocean Vs. All post-punks get electro-core under a fountain of strobe lights deep inside the Mill Hill Basement (300 S. Broad St., Trenton) at 9 tomorrow night. Conductor Connor Byrne tells On The Beat the “project” is “an audible and visual life experience” and “satirical performance on pretentious indie bands” aimed at non-epileptics looking to suck down an intense light show. Politically-minded roots rockers predicted Barack Obama’s election in an interview with The Trentonian in April ’08, saying his nomination sent a message to the world that the U.S. is a diverse nation of free thinkers. And with that in order, the former Dispatch players can now concentrate less on preaching the meaning of their democratic pose to instead just plain rock outside by the beach at Asbury Park’s Stone Pony Summerstage (913 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park) at 5 tomorrow night, where Chad Stokes’ reggae-rich rhythms - think The Police here - can be appreciated for all its sunny splendor. Bucks County bohemian groove junkies fight for their right to party at THE MIXXER - a weekend music, art and food drive at Snipes Farm (890 W. Bridge St., Morrisville, Pa.) starting at 11 a.m. Saturday with a charity quoits tournament. Concertgoers are urged to bring non-perishable food donations for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, with the top donators winning big prizes. The two-stage, 10 band lineup includes musical ranges from bluegrass to jazz, rock and funk.
